Angel Award Recipient!
Giving in to an inescapable momentum to write down her story, Sherry did just that, culminating in her book, I Don’t Remember Signing Up For Cancer! She subsequently was the recipient of Excellence in Media’s 1999 International Angel Award; one of the highest recognition’s given in communication, honoring works of outstanding moral, ethical and/or social impact. The founder and producer of the Angel Award, Mary Dorr presented Sherry a Silver Angel trophy, for the revised edition of her book. The Awards Banquet was held at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel and the late Steve Allen and his wife Jayne Meadows emceed the program!
Others honored along with Sherry at this same ceremony were Roma Downey of “Touched By An Angel,” Gerald McRaney of “Promise Land,” Craig T. Nelson, Roy “Dusty” Rogers, Entertainment Tonight, Dr. George Otis, the animated movie “The Prince of Egypt,” Tom Brokaw for his book, The Greatest Generation, Tokyo producer Masamichi Kawabata, and Roberto Benigni’s foreign film, “Life is Beautiful.”
